De Librije Comes to the Maloba Private Game Reserve
The team behind three-Michelin-starred restaurant De Librije will travel to Maloba Private Game Reserve this October for an exceptional culinary collaboration, bringing together fine dining, South African wines and the natural beauty of Maloba.
Kimberley, South Africa – October 2026 – From 14 to 18 October, Maloba Private Game Reserve will welcome the team from De Librije. At the personal invitation of René Klop, Managing Director of Maloba Private Game Reserve, the team will travel from Zwolle in the Netherlands to South Africa for several days that bring together two worlds united by a shared passion for exceptional gastronomy.
At Maloba, gastronomy is not simply an addition to the safari experience, but an integral part of the overall stay. The kitchen follows the seasons, using fresh ingredients from the reserve’s own Farm & Gardens wherever possible, where a variety of vegetables, fruits and herbs are grown. A carefully curated selection of South African wines is equally central to the culinary experience.
It is this shared appreciation for ingredients, provenance and the surrounding environment that forms the foundation of the collaboration with De Librije.
From the Lodge to Farm & Gardens
The multi-day programme will feature two exceptional culinary experiences. At the lodge, guests will enjoy an intimate five-course dinner prepared by the De Librije team, with the South African wilderness providing a remarkable backdrop.
The following day, the culinary experience moves to Maloba’s Farm & Gardens. Surrounded by lush gardens and greenery, guests will gather for a special shared lunch, accompanied by carefully selected South African wines. It is a setting that naturally brings to life the connection between the land, its ingredients and the cuisine.
The collaboration therefore not only brings world-class Dutch gastronomy to South Africa, but also creates a unique encounter between De Librije and the ingredients, wines and landscapes that define Maloba.
Gastronomy in the Heart of the Wilderness
The culinary programme forms part of an exclusive multi-day experience for a select group of ten guests. Alongside the exceptional dining experiences, guests will discover Maloba through private game drives, a helicopter safari and a bush dinner.
Located near Kimberley in South Africa’s Northern Cape, Maloba Private Game Reserve encompasses more than 20,000 hectares of private wilderness. With just five suites, the Luxury Farm & Gardens Villa and a maximum of 18 guests across the entire reserve, privacy is at the heart of the experience.
Here, former agricultural land is gradually being restored to its natural state, while Farm & Gardens creates a direct connection between the land and the kitchen.
This combination of wilderness, gastronomy and personalised hospitality lies at the heart of Maloba’s philosophy: a safari experience that goes beyond the wildlife encountered on a game drive, inviting guests to discover the destination as a whole.
Maloba × De Librije
The collaboration with De Librije reflects this vision. Rather than presenting two distinct worlds side by side, it brings them together over several days, uniting Dutch fine dining, South African produce and wines, and Maloba’s vast, open wilderness.
