A World of Wagyu, all in Mayfair: Meet Kobe Mayfair
Just off Dover Street, Kobe Mayfair is putting a global spin on the classic steakhouse, bringing together premium wagyu and exceptional cuts from across the globe under one Mayfair roof.
Opened this spring at 16 Hay Hill, Kobe Mayfair specialises in some of the world’s most sought-after beef, with a menu spanning Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile and England. At the centre of it all is Kobe’s namesake: coveted Japanese Kobe beef, alongside an impressive selection of Wagyu and premium steaks designed to make choosing your dinner a little more exciting.
And while Mayfair might be synonymous with high-end dining, Kobe Mayfair has a more approachable take. With steaks starting from £20 and reaching £480 for its most indulgent cuts, guests can dip into the world of Wagyu without the traditional Mayfair price tag. Cuts can be paired with classic sauces including peppercorn, chimichurri, béarnaise and blue cheese, allowing diners to make the experience entirely their own.
Think of the menu as a passport for steak lovers. Japan brings the ultimate Kobe experience, while Australia, Argentina, Chile and England each offer their own take on premium Wagyu and beef. Whether you’re ordering a more accessible cut for a midweek dinner or going all out for a special occasion, the menu offers plenty to explore.
The journey starts before the main event, with starters including the Wagyu Tataki, one of Kobe Mayfair’s signature dishes. Delicately sliced and topped with fresh winter truffle and ponzu, it offers a rich yet balanced introduction to the restaurant’s Japanese influence.
The global theme continues behind the bar, where Kobe’s cocktail menu takes inspiration from Japanese ingredients and flavours, alongside playful twists on familiar classics.
The Miyazaki combines mango, ginger shrub and blanco tequila, while the Saga pairs lychee and dragon fruit with a lemon foam. For something more familiar with a Japanese edge, the Yuzu Margarita and Mt Fuji Old Fashioned put a Kobe spin on two cocktail classics. Cocktails range from £16 to £20.
Set within a stylish Mayfair space, the atmosphere is refined without feeling formal, making it an easy addition to the Mayfair dining circuit whether you’re there for one of its headline Wagyu cuts or simply a great steak and cocktail.
