I had already had an eye test, but the store also offers free eye tests with qualified optometrists. I was encouraged to browse on my own first and make some selections, then the experts were on hand with advice and knowledge.

Each spectacle design comes in a variety of frame colours—such as black, tortoise, peach, camo, sunrise, honey, lilac, chocolate, and cognac—as well as metal frames in silver, gold, rose gold, and gunmetal. The choice of shapes and colours is endless; they are beautifully detailed, lightweight, and comfortable. The Bloobloom team is on hand to take measurements and make adjustments to ensure maximum comfort.

I chose my reading glasses with ease and swiftly found some rather classy sunglasses too. My prescription reading glasses came with a couple of options: each pair includes fully coated prescription lenses, plus a frame case and lens cloth, and the choice of blue light filtering lenses for computer comfort—which was my choice. Most surprising of all is the price: just £95 all in, which includes your prescription. The only extra cost is £30 for the blue light filtering lenses on prescription glasses (free on non-prescription glasses). Delivery is also free if you’re not able to collect in store.

Convenient Home Trial Service

I was able to visit the store to make my choices, but Bloobloom also offers a highly efficient home delivery service. You can choose five pairs from the website and have them delivered to your home. They ship them to you for free; you can try them on for five days and see which ones you like. When you have made your choice, you purchase them online and they will send you a pair fitted with your prescription. As soon as your five days are up, you return your trial frames using the prepaid label. It really couldn’t be easier, and there is no obligation to buy!
