Cycle through London’s Historic Past with 100 Queen’s Gate’s ‘Bike the Blues’ Package
To welcome visitors back to London and celebrate exploring our historic capital once more, South Kensington-based hotel, 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, has launched its ‘Bike the Blues’ Blue Plaque package, in partnership with cycling company, Fat Tire Tours. The new package is ideal for visitors and Londoners alike who are excited to get off the beaten track and discover both the iconic and lesser-known areas of London by bike. The outdoor package celebrates 100 Queen’s Gate’s enviable Royal Borough location by taking guests on a tour of West London’s most historic Blue Plaques, each honouring a part of the city’s rich cultural past.
Package Inclusions
A bespoke and intimate guided group bike tour around Kensington and Chelsea starts from the hotel, stopping at points of interest to learn about the area’s rich history and influential past residents. The tour visits areas of historical interest including the Natural History Museum, the home of Virginia Woolf, the Royal Albert Hall, the Diana Memorial Fountain, Kensington Palace, the home of Scouts founder Baden-Powell, and the former residence of UK Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill.
The leisurely-paced, approximately four-hour tour follows parks and designated cycle lanes, led by an experienced guide, allowing guests to concentrate on the sights. It concludes in the beautiful surroundings of Kensington Palace Gardens, just a stone’s throw from the hotel. Here, guests enjoy a picnic hamper created by the hotel, featuring a pre-mixed cocktail from ESQ, samples from the W/A menu including finger sandwiches, a cheese platter, strawberries and meringues, and a bottle of English sparkling wine.
Guests end their experience with an overnight stay in one of the hotel’s ‘Blue Plaque’ suites, inspired by historic former residents. Set over two levels, each suite boasts a separate living area and all amenities needed for a relaxing stay in the Royal Borough. A complimentary buffet breakfast is offered in the hotel’s design-led, all-day restaurant, W/A Kensington.
