Cycle through London’s Historic Past with 100 Queen’s Gate’s ‘Bike the Blues’ Package

To welcome visitors back to London and celebrate exploring our historic capital once more, South Kensington based hotel, 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton has launched its ‘Bike the Blues’ Blue Plaque package, in partnership cycling company, Fat Tire Tours. The new package, launching today, is ideal for visitors and Londoners alike who are excited to get off the beaten track and discover both the iconic and lesser-known areas of London by bike. The outdoor package will celebrate 100 Queen’s Gate’s enviable Royal Borough location, by taking guests on a tour of West London’s most historic Blue Plaques, each honouring a part of the city’s rich, cultural past.

The ‘Bike the Blues’ offering will include

A bespoke and intimate guided group bike tour around Kensington and Chelsea, starting from the hotel and stopping off at points of interest to learn about the area’s rich history and influential, past residents.

Visit areas of historical interest including The Natural History Museum, the home of Virginia Wolf, The Royal Albert Hall, The Diana Memorial Fountain, Kensington Palace, and more.

Concluding at the beautiful Kensington Palace Gardens, guests will be able to enjoy a picnic hamper created by the hotel, including a pre-mixed cocktail from the ESQ and samples of the W/A menu including a selection of finger sandwiches, a cheese platter, strawberries & meringues, and a bottle of English sparkling wine.

Guests will end their experience with an overnight stay in one of the hotel’s ‘Blue Plaque’ suites, inspired by one of many historic, previous residents
The Bike the Blues Package.

Once guests have checked into the hotel and made themselves comfortable in their ‘Blue Plaque’ suite, they will be welcomed by Fat Tire Tours onto an intimate, bespoke tour – that has been designed just for its guests – of the local area’s most famous, Blue Plaques including the home of founder of the Scouts, Baden Powel, and residence of the previous Prime Minister of England, Sir Winston Churchill.

The leisurely-paced tour will last approximately 4 hours and guests will be led by an experienced, knowledgeable tour guide around the Royal Borough, via parks and designated cycle lanes, meaning visitors can concentrate on taking in the sights! The exploring will conclude in the beautiful surroundings of Kensington Palace Gardens, just a stone’s throw from 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel. Here, guests will be able to relax and reflect on their tour while indulging in sweet treats provided by the hotel in a packaged, picnic hamper.

Those booking the package will continue their historic, themed visit to the capital with a stay in an aptly named ‘Blue Plaque’ suite, each themed around an historic figure that lived in the local area. Set over two levels, the suite boasts a separate living area and all the amenities needed to enjoy a relaxing stay in the Royal Borough. Each guest is offered a complimentary buffet breakfast in the hotel’s design-led, all-day restaurant, W/A Kensington.

100 Queen’s Gate Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton’s Group Commercial Director, Stephanie Gosling, comments: ‘After months of lockdown restrictions and limitations, our guests are eager to explore the capital once more, and what better way to discover hidden historic gems than by bicycle!

That’s why we’ve teamed up with Fat Tire Tours to offer guests an exclusive insight into the history of the Royal Borough, away from the beaten track. From authors and poets to politicians, our stunning neighbourhood of Kensington & Chelsea has concealed nods to its eventful past around every corner. Even our hotel is intertwined in the heritage of the area and was once home to aristocratic explorer, William Alexander, so visitors will be sure to leave their stay with more than one new fact about the Capital!’
