Fairmont Monte Carlo celebrates 50th Anniversary a full hotel renovation

As it celebrates 50 years on the Riviera, the Fairmont Monte Carlo has unveiled a sweeping transformation that touches every corner of the landmark waterfront property, from guest rooms and suites to dining destinations and event spaces. The full-property redesign brings a fresh aesthetic whilst remaining rooted in Monegasque charm. Combining this with the hotel’s timeless hospitality and a strengthened commitment to sustainability, Fairmont Monte Carlo is embarking on its next chapter.

The full-hotel renovation coincides with the hotel’s golden anniversary this year and introduces a new identity that blends Monaco’s coastal allure with contemporary design. Guest rooms and suites have been completely redesigned in soft creams and ocean blue tones, with refined furnishings, elegant textiles and private terraces overlooking the sea, garden, or the famous Grand Prix Hairpin bend. New Resort Suites tailored for families will debut this year, offering kitchens, expansive living areas and panoramic terraces for even more immersive stays.

The transformation extends to the hotel’s dining scene. At the heart of this is Amù Monte Carlo, named after the Monégasque word for “love”, the restaurant concept celebrates the romance and rhythm of Riviera life. Set against a backdrop of the deep blue sea, Amù delivers a Mediterranean-inspired menu on the rooftop of the hotel. Just above, Amù by the Pool offers casual dining and cocktails poolside with views across both Monaco and the Mediterranean.

Nobu Monte Carlo, a flagship for the global brand, has also been redesigned. The updated interiors blend Japanese craftsmanship with local inspiration — oak wood, soft lighting, and flowing lines set the stage for a tranquil dining experience with uninterrupted sea views.

The serene ambience of the renovated Lobby Lounge Restaurant & Bar, located in the heart of the Fairmont Monte Carlo, is available to guests 24/7. It serves spectacular views of the Mediterranean alongside classic international dishes with a contemporary twist and an intriguing cocktail menu.

The hotel’s event spaces have also been updated. The newly renovated Le Grand Salon now features state-of-the-art technology and flexible layouts for events of up to 1,500 guests, positioning Fairmont Monte Carlo as one of the most dynamic venues on the Côte d’Azur for conferences, weddings and high-profile gatherings.

Sustainability is central to the hotel’s new chapter. To support Monaco’s goal of phasing out fossil fuels and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, Fairmont Monte Carlo has connected its energy system to the Principality’s thalassothermal network, which uses seawater to sustainably heat and cool buildings. This move, made in collaboration with SeaWergie and SMEG, involved a major upgrade of the hotel’s historic seawater pumping station, tripling its capacity and linking it to a loop serving 10 buildings. The project is expected to reduce Monaco’s greenhouse gas emissions by 3%, eliminating nearly 2,000 tons of CO2 annually and significantly improving the hotel’s energy efficiency.

Originally opened in 1975 by Princess Grace of Monaco, the Fairmont Monte Carlo has long been an emblem of luxury hospitality in Monaco. With its complete transformation timed to the 50th anniversary, the hotel is embracing the future while staying true to its Riviera roots.
