Gaucho further strengthens its position with 20th site in Cardiff
Gaucho Opens 20th Site in Cardiff
Gaucho, the modern Argentinian steakhouse group led by Martin Williams, continues its nationwide expansion with the opening of its 20th site and first in Wales. Trading at Gaucho Cardiff has exceeded expectations, hitting six-figure sales in its first week.
Glamorous Launch Event
The restaurant launched last week with a star-studded party attended by the likes of Welsh Football Captain Aaron Ramsey and his wife, Colleen Rowland, rugby icon Lawrence Dallaglio, and DJ Becky Tong.
Prime Location and Sustainable Features
Located on Bridge Street in the heart of Cardiff’s historic centre, the 8,500 sq ft site spans two storeys and accommodates 220 covers, with two private dining rooms and a central cocktail bar. The restaurant is the first in the city to serve carbon-neutral beef and, as with all Gaucho restaurants, operates a zero food-to-landfill policy, running on 100% renewable energy.
Contemporary Latin American Menu
The menus, from Executive Chef Mike Reid, feature contemporary Latin American dishes such as shrimp ceviche with picante rojo, empanadas, and marinated pork matambre with Malbec jam.
CEO Martin Williams Comments
Martin Williams, CEO of Gaucho, says: “I am delighted with the performance of the entire group, particularly our new openings this year. We have enjoyed fantastic post-pandemic trading across the estate and there is clearly an appetite across the country for our signature offering of impeccably sourced sustainable steaks, modern Argentinian food, and cocktails.”
Part of Ambitious Expansion
Cardiff is the fourth Gaucho to launch this year, following openings in Liverpool, Newcastle, and London’s Covent Garden. The brand continues its ambitious growth strategy with a strong pipeline in place and additional Gaucho openings planned for 2024.
