Hunter Chalets and Apartments – mountainside decadence

As the Global Editor of Luxuria Lifestyle international, through our luxury grapevine we’d heard about Hunter Chalets and Apartments in Morzine and Les Get, but didn’t know much about them, so when given the chance to find out more we jumped at it.

For me when skiing without a doubt the location is important, the surrounding ski area needs to have a huge choice of runs and easily accessible, but more important than that the accommodation whether hotel, chalet or apartment must provide a haven of comfort and luxury, in order that my body can replenish and recover for the next day on the slopes.

Stunning cuisine, warmth, and comfort are also essential after all do we go on holiday to lower our standards, certainly not?!  Hunter Chalets and Apartments, situated in Morzine and Les Gets provides access to Avoriaz, Super Morzine, Les Gets and even Switzerland this seemed the most amazing destination. The Hunter website is impressive, with a selection of luxury chalets and apartments offering designer decor second to none, a concierge service, host service, and in-chalet fine dining, it seemed the perfect combination.

From the moment our party of four entered our exquisite luxury chalet, The Old Macaroni, we were treated to five-star service, our luggage was scooped up and delivered to our rooms, skis placed in the heated boot room and afternoon tea and champagne was served in the stylish and spacious lounge, with a stunning view of the surrounding mountains and town.

Our premium chalet was a quick five-minute drive from the centre of Morzine, a large and fun town with numerous busy bars and restaurants as well as a fabulous array of skiwear boutiques and rental stores. The Hunter chauffeur-driven mini-bus staff were on hand day and night, dropped us at the slopes, met us with our après ski boots, enabling us to spend time in the town in comfort, and knowing our ski hardware was safely back in the chalet., drying and being prepared for the next day skiing.  A quick phone call and the drivers were ready to collect at the drop of a hat, and this was the same service into the evening if we fancied a stroll and drink in the town.

We didn’t leave the chalet often in the evening as we were pretty tired after an amazing day of skiing, but also our in-chalet dining was so perfect we did not feel the need to go elsewhere.

Our chalet hosts and chef were on hand day and night, they were happy to deliver a coffee or array of cocktails to our rooms, find extra pillows, book our drivers, arrange ski lessons, pretty well anything we needed, which was superb.

Chef Dan presented us with a spectacular breakfast every morning, fresh pastries, layered fruit, and yogurt pots, cheeses, and meats followed by freshly prepared hot dishes of our choice, from a classic full English to eggs Benedict. In the afternoon after skiing we indulged in much-needed tea and homemade cakes, just to help us through to dinner.

Dinner began each evening with canapés and cocktails in the lounge, followed by a four-course gourmet meal, fine wines, and coffee, all absolutely spectacular. Dan presented each course and the chalet hosts, Chloe, Katy, and Pheobe looked after us at the table. One of our party was vegetarian and his dishes were equally as superb.

Details, details, details… the chalet was full of them. Luxurious soft furnishings of silk, fur, and velvet on huge plump cream leather sofas, unusual stylish lighting, large bespoke pieces of furniture. The crockery and cutlery were rustic and went perfectly with the over-sized dining table and raspberry patterned dining chairs. Every room, from the cinema to the numerous bathrooms and bedrooms were individually designed to use maximum space and ensure complete comfort.

Our four days were simply perfect, the weather was as good as it could ever be for skiing, super snow and blue skies. Our premium ski equipment packages supplied by Doorstep Skis in Morzine ensured we were safe and very comfortable.  The package included the latest Rossignol, K2 and Salomon skis, boots, poles and helmets, which can be collected from their well-stocked store in town or delivered directly to your chalet, hotel or apartment. The service provided by the Doorstep team was spot-on. All of our measurements, weight, height and any ailments were put into a computer programme to make sure our bindings were set correctly and the skis were the right length and shape to match our skiing ability.

We must also thank our friends at Morzine / Avoriaz tourist office for their kind help with this press and review trip and for ensuring our safe passage to and from Geneva airport with Skiidy Gonzales, who’s minivans were warm, comfortable and speedy and were happy to lift the luggage in and out for us.

In conclusion, our time in Morzine with Hunter was 11/10, simply perfect, need we say more…
