Karma Salford Hall, Vale of Evesham – steeped in Tudor charm
Discovering the Charm of Karma Salford Hall
The Cotswolds is steeped in history, with towns and villages holding untold stories, original architecture, quaint boutiques, farm shops, countryside walks, and so much more. It is a fascinating part of the UK.
We were invited to spend the weekend at one of the Karma Group’s hotels in the Cotswolds: Salford Hall in the Vale of Evesham. It certainly packed a punch on the relaxation scale. This impressive, pretty building boasts heaps of kerb appeal—stunning, in fact—and part of it dates back 700 years. The hotel is full of nooks and crannies, winding staircases, creaky floorboards, and authentic artwork, creating an old castle-style atmosphere where you truly feel the presence of a bygone era. Once belonging to King Henry VIII, it retains its Tudor charm. Elegant and stylish, it features oodles of luxe finishes expected from a Karma Group hotel. Restored to a high standard, it ensures complete comfort, with rooms and suites sympathetically updated. Tradition meets the 21st century in the heart of the Cotswolds.
A Pet-Friendly Sunday Lunch
We arrived with our four-legged friend, a well-behaved cockapoo, just in time for Sunday lunch in the conservatory, where dogs are most welcome. He was treated to a huge bowl of Sunday lunch, which (excuse the pun) he ‘woolfed’ down! We began with delicious ham hock terrine, followed by rare roast beef with all the trimmings—the Yorkshire pudding was truly impressive. We finished with ice cream, as we were quite full. To wash it down, we enjoyed a bottle of Prosecco. It was a leisurely, relaxed experience—a perfect Sunday afternoon—before we worked off a few calories with a walk in the surrounding countryside.
Spa Indulgence and Cosy Accommodation
After our walk, we both enjoyed treatments in the hotel spa: a facial and reflexology with Emma, a highly qualified and talented therapist. We discovered that laidback vibe we needed within minutes, in her beautiful room full of lovely aromas and gentle music.
We had been so busy we had not yet checked in. We were shown to our dog-friendly room, featuring a four-poster bed and plenty of space for all three of us. A dog bowl and bed were supplied, and he slept soundly. Our bed was equally comfy; we slept like babies. The countryside is such a peaceful, healing place. The suite included tea and coffee-making facilities, a mini-fridge, Wi-Fi, gowns, a hairdryer, and great-quality lotions and potions.
Evening in the Pub-Style Bar
That evening, not feeling up to a full meal, we dined in the hotel bar—a typically English, super-relaxed, down-to-earth pub setting. We ordered a variety of starters to share: a tasty charcuterie platter, fried halloumi, and spicy chicken wings—delicious and perfect. We explored the hotel, discovering a games room, gym, library, and marquee for events like weddings. The grounds were lovely, well-maintained, and pretty.
A Relaxed Breakfast Start
The next morning, after a gym session and dog walk, we took breakfast in the conservatory. We helped ourselves to a continental spread: pastries, bread, cereals, yoghurts, fruit, orange juice, and coffee. The perfect way to begin a busy day.
Final Thoughts
Salford Hall offers delicious food and scenic surroundings in equal measure, alongside great service and, most importantly, time to recharge your batteries.
