Escape to a world of luxury and tranquillity at Llanerch, the perfect getaway for those seeking a memorable and relaxing experience or a romantic getaway.

Llanerch Vineyard Hotel lies in the heart of the Welsh countryside in Hensol, South Wales, just 20 minutes from Cardiff city centre. It offers a romantic retreat like no other for couples looking to get away from it all and enjoy time together.

The vineyard itself is one of the oldest in Wales and Llanerch Vineyard Hotel’s new hotel building opened in 2019, offering 37 luxury rooms and suites. It was named the AA Hotel of the Year Wales 2022-23.

The hotel features several different room types. The large Countryside Superior Rooms have uninterrupted countryside views with either a floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony or a ground-floor balcony area with seating. Each room has a Respa super king-size bed, a living area with a sofa and a luxury ensuite bathroom.

The hotel’s spacious Countryside Suites occupy each corner of the hotel and feature a Respa super king-size bedroom with countryside views, a luxury ensuite bathroom and a large living room with sofas. The suite’s two rooms can be separated by a folding wall.

The Courtyard Rooms and Standard Double Rooms, set in one of the vineyard’s original stone buildings, also feature Respa beds and luxury ensuites.

Every room has a large widescreen smart TV, a Nespresso coffee maker and kettle, and luxury touches, including Welsh wool blankets made at Pembrokeshire’s traditional woollen mill Melin Tregwynt, art by local photographer Andy Stoyl, fluffy bath robes and The White Company bath products.

The hotel has several spacious accessible rooms on its ground floor, as well as dog-friendly rooms, featuring welcome treats and beds for dogs, who are also welcome in a dedicated area of the hotel’s restaurant. The hotel is popular with dog lovers, who enjoy the woodland trail and lake in the hotel grounds.

The award-winning Two AA Rosettes Llanerch Restaurant has floor-to-ceiling views of the vineyard. It serves seasonal lunches, dinners, Sunday roasts and afternoon tea, and has an outdoor terrace leading out into the vines where you can dine in warmer months. Executive Head Chef Grady Atkins prides himself on creating delicious seasonal dishes using the finest locally sourced ingredients.

Summer 2023 saw the opening of Llanerch’s covered rooftop terrace which offers spectacular views over the vineyard whatever the weather.

Llanerch offers daily vineyard tours and wine tastings, which take place in ‘The Tasting Lodge’ – a new, purpose-built building dedicated to the Llanerch wine experience.

The vineyard produces many different varieties of Llanerch’s ‘Cariad’ (Welsh for ‘love’) wine – a Cariad Sparkling Blush, a Cariad Sparkling Brut, a Cariad Dry White, a Cariad Off-Dry White and a Cariad Rose – as well as estate wines, including a red, and their first ever Llanerch Gin. You can find the latest wines and spirits here.

A good way to experience everything that Llanerch Vineyard Hotel has to offer is with its popular ‘Wine & Dine Escape’ for two people, which is available Monday to Saturday and is based on two people sharing. This includes an overnight stay and full Welsh breakfast, a vineyard tour and tutored wine tasting, a bottle of Cariad wine in the room and a £45 allowance per person to spend on dinner at Llanerch Restaurant.

Llanerch’s range of exclusive hotel offers can be found here. They include the ‘Llanerch Luxury Experience’ for those who want a truly indulgent stay.
