Luxuria Reviews Finca La Plaza: Where Ibiza’s Cool Kids Dine
Welcome to Chill Town: Santa Gertrudis After Dark.
Santa Gertrudis has a different rhythm from much of Ibiza. Away from the beach clubs and waterfront restaurants, the village has an easy, creative energy of its own, and Finca La Plaza fits into it beautifully. Set beside the village church, this historic finca has been transformed into an intimate restaurant where dinner feels like a proper occasion, but never a stuffy one.
The setting is immediately inviting. Traditional Ibicencan architecture, a leafy garden and softly lit tables create the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger before you’ve even looked at the menu. There’s a lovely sense of old and new working together here. The character of the original finca remains, while the food, interiors and service bring a more contemporary feel.
It’s effortlessly stylish, relaxed and very much in keeping with the slower side of Ibiza.
Loosen Your Belt: It’s Feast O’Clock
The menu celebrates Mediterranean produce, with plenty of local ingredients and some wonderfully unexpected combinations. It is also the sort of menu that makes choosing just one or two things rather difficult.
We started with the Mediterranean tuna tartare with Ibizan lemon zest, fresh, delicate, and beautifully simple, alongside the red prawn marinated in cold escabeche. The homemade ham croquettes are another easy choice for the table. At the same time, the fennel salad, made with 48-month-aged Parmigiano Reggiano, hazelnuts, cranberries and an orange vinaigrette, is prepared right in front of you. A lovely little touch that makes dinner feel even more personal.
For something a little more indulgent, there is the Roman-style artichoke with truffle sabayon, or the grilled langoustine with beurre noisette and Ibizan lemon zest. And if you spot the smoked pork rib ‘hot-dog’ on the menu, order it. It is one of those slightly playful dishes you might not expect in such a refined setting, but it works brilliantly.
Surf, Turf, and Everything in Between
The mains continue to move between land and sea. Formentera squid comes with its own squid-ink sauce, turbot with pil-pil, and free-range eggs with Ibizan potatoes and Huelva red prawns.
For meat lovers, the ‘La Finca’ beef Wellington is something of a signature, while thegrass-fed beef steak tartare with bone marrow and charcoal-grilled rib-eye with Sichuan pepper sauce offer something more substantial. They also offer Wagyu rib-eye for two and crispy Segovian suckling pig.
I also like that the vegetables get plenty of attention rather than being treated as an afterthought. The grilled asparagus, roasted sweet potato with Gorgonzola and caramelised onion, and Roman-style artichoke all feel like dishes you could happily order for the table and share, instead of a bonus side.
Cancel Your Next Plan: You’ll Want to Linger
What makes Finca La Plaza memorable is how everything comes together. The food is sophisticated without feeling fussy, the setting is beautiful without being too formal, and the service allows the evening to unfold at its own pace.
The impressive wine list makes this a place to take your time over a bottle rather than rush through dinner. As the evening progresses, the garden becomes even more atmospheric, and the combination of warm lighting, greenery and the old finca creates a lovely sense of intimacy.
I found myself completely settling into the rhythm of the place. Dinner stretched on, conversation flowed, and before long, I stopped thinking about what time it was.
Hot Takeaway
Finca La Plaza captures a side of Ibiza that feels a little more understated. It has history, character and a strong sense of place, but the experience feels contemporary and polished without losing that wonderfully relaxed island spirit.
It would work equally well for a romantic dinner, a long evening with friends, or simply as a place to escape to when you want good food and a beautiful setting without the noise of the beach clubs.
Sometimes the best Ibiza evenings are the ones you don’t rush, and Finca La Plaza is a place to take your time.
