Mongibello Hotel, Ibiza in a mediterranean enclave in the Balearic Islands

Ibiza is one of my favourite places to visit; each time I go, I have a unique experience, and I always have a feeling of ‘see you again next year’. It’s one of those places you can visit one million times, and you’ll have different experiences and outlooks on life each time. I decided to travel to Ibiza solo; I knew I wouldn’t be partying this time around, and I wanted some time to myself to relax.

I have a bucket list, and if you’ve read my other articles, you’ll be well aware of this fact, but if you’re not, I have a bucket list of all the hotels, restaurants and experiences I want to tick off. I think the more intentional you are about what you want to do in life, the higher the chance these experiences find a way of finding you.

The Concept Group have nine of the most Instagrammable hotels in Ibiza, and I want to stay at every one of them. Each hotel has a unique personality, characteristic and design, focusing on five key elements to make sure each one is special; they focus on art, design, music, fashion and film. I stayed at Hotel Tropicana; a Mimo-style hotel inspired by the movie ‘Cocktail’, and fell in love with it during my visit a few years ago. From that stay, I made it my mission to visit all nine hotels.

I saw Mongibello Hotel while scrolling through Instagram, the newest of the nine Concept Group Hotels, and I HAD to go. The decor of this hotel screams dopamine; every inch of the hotel releases endorphins and makes you feel good purely because of the design; this is an intentional trait of all Concept Group Hotels. Mongibello is unique; it has a Dolce Vita concept, an Italian phrase translated to ‘the sweet life’, a life of beauty, pleasure and luxury, and Mongibello epitomised just that!

As I arrived at the hotel, I was in awe of the entrance. Outside the doors was an Italian-inspired Alfa Romeo Spider car in bright Rosso Corsa, a retro motorbike and a red and white striped awning. The first impressions were strong, making me so excited to see the rest of the hotel. I had a warm welcome from the front-of-house staff, Hose, who was friendly and attentive throughout my stay.

Mongibello Hotel has 167 rooms, 32 suites, a private beach and pool with retro blue and white parasols, sun loungers, and a fully equipped gym. The suites have the most spectacular sea views, inspired by Bon Vivant Living. I was surprised with a sea-view suite with panoramic views of the sea, mountains and pool; breath-taking was one way to describe my beautiful view each morning. My suite 137 has got to be one of the favourites I’ve stayed in so far! The decor was enchanting; every inch was picture-perfect. There was a king-size bed, spacious living area, double vanity and shower area, and full-sized mirrors for the selfie enthusiasts.

The pièce de résistance has to be the suite’s private terrace; this was the most exciting part; not only were the views outstanding, but it meant I could soak in the vibes from the pool and DJ from downstairs whilst enjoying the privacy of my suite. I had sun-facing sunbeds, a breakfast bar overlooking the pool and an outdoor shower. This terrace felt very special and gave the suite the extra wow factor.

The personal touches throughout don’t go unnoticed. I had an Ausoline book all about Ibiza in my suite, so I could read up on the magical island that is Ibiza before bed instead of scrolling on my phone. The artwork and photography adorning the walls are captivating. If you love fashion, retro, and Dolce Vita, then Mongibello would be a match made in heaven for you!

Mongibello is a scenic ten-minute walk to Santa Eularia Des Riu, surrounded by the harbour, beaches, charming cafés and restaurants. I enjoyed a truffle spaghetti at this gorgeous authentic Italian outdoor restaurant called Ohm Plaza with views of the mountains and glistening sea whilst I caught up on my new Colleen Hoover book. And the next day, I treated myself to one of the best pizzas from a beachside restaurant called San Martino, which I keep dreaming about! The town is so close by and full of great places to shop, dine and enjoy a drink with picturesque views.

La Terrazza is the on-site restaurant; it has a homely feel with soft lighting, sweet Italian-inspired chairs and green furnishings. Green is a universally healing colour, making you feel calm and at peace. La Terrazza serves a range of dishes, grilled octopus, pesto pasta and grilled steak. I had a Caprice salad, simple, but the flavours were divine. I also tried the most mouth-watering pistachio ice cream; I had to order it to my room multiple times as it was the best ice cream I’ve ever had!

They have a bar called Bar Aperitivo, recognised as the best bar in the world in 2019, serving exclusive cocktails using ingredients from local producers. There is also a secret bar (don’t tell them I told you); it’s an intimate bar serving delicious cocktails, and the perfect spot for you to dance the night away in or have a nice chilled cocktail or three in the corner.

Overall, Mongibello has it all. It’s one of the most unique Hotels I’ve stayed in, and I want to thank Hose, Aaron, Helen and Tiago for making my stay a memorable one. I would recommend this hotel for everyone of all ages; I think it has something for everyone, and of course, if you appreciate quirkiness, you will love it!
