New East London Market Inspired Cocktail Menu at PocketSquare Rooftop Bar

PocketSquare – the east London rooftop bar with a skyline terrace – will launch a new cocktail menu inspired by the markets of east London this November.

Situated in Whitechapel at the heart of east London, PocketSquare has taken inspiration for the winter cocktail menu from the area’s local markets. The cocktails pay homage to eight east London markets; from the historical Roman Road and Old Spitalfields to the food lovers’ havens of Broadway and Whitechapel. The winter decorations across the PocketSquare bar and outdoor terrace are influenced by Columbia Road Flower Market, with festive flowers creating a vibrant and cosy winter surround.

The menu has been created by head mixologist Lucrezia Frosutto and her expert team. Guests can dip into East London history and contemporary culture as they sip on cocktails inspired by the stories and wares of the city’s much-loved markets. In creating the eight cocktails the team has looked to a wide variety of ingredients and flavours to capture the uniqueness of each destination, infusing spirits with flavours from beigel to cumin. Playful garnishes give a further nod to the goods the stalls are known for.

The Hanami is inspired by the bustling Columbia Road Flower Market which every Sunday overflows with people, flowers and the calls of east-end florists. This floral cocktail blends Roku Gin with flower cordial, Beesou and green tea soda, and is topped with a sugar strip of flowers.

Off the Hook is inspired by the eclectic Old Spitalfields Market. Taking influence from its dedicated vinyl market the cocktail blends Sauvelle Vodka, Mozart White Chocolate Liquor, mint liquor and lactic acid syrup, and is finished with a fun liquorice vinyl.

Masalas is inspired by Whitechapel Road Market which amongst its wares sells a wide array of vegetables, fruit and spices. This cocktail features Hepple Gin infused with cumin, mango liquor, turmeric and ginger syrup with orange and pineapple.

Beigel is inspired by Brick Lane, home to a number of markets and two acclaimed Beigel bakeries. This cocktail blends Toki with honey mustard, beigel-infused dry vermouth and habanero bitters.

Other cocktails on the list are inspired by Roman Road (Tvmvltvs), Petticoat Lane (Crinoline), Broadway Market (Demitasse), and Chrisp Street Market (æppel).

Tapping into the market theme, the bar and outside terrace, overlooking east London, have been given a winter makeover courtesy of florist Liz Marsh. Liz has looked to the nearby Columbia Road Market with its overflowing stalls of flowers, to create her winter decorations which will see a copper-coloured ceiling complement an abundance of festive florals.

To go with your cocktails PocketSquare’s Sicilian aperitivo menu offers authentic Sicilian bar snacks including Arancini di Riso, Polpette, Fritto Misto, an aperitivo sharing board and a selection of flatbreads; all perfect for enjoying alongside cocktails.

This winter PocketSquare is also home to a retrospective of works from the renowned cartoonist Bill Tidy MBE, as part of the Curated at Hyatt Place exhibition series. Visit for cocktails and enjoy Bill Tidy’s cartoons in PocketSquare and throughout the hotel. All the works are available to buy with 25% of sales going into a bursary to support and fund work from a new cartoonist.
