New Eleiko Öppen Collars secure barbell weights in seconds
Eleiko introduces the Öppen Collars, a pioneering solution designed to easily secure barbell weights to improve performance and safety.
The collars feature a patent-pending, open-sided design that is a fresh take on a strength training staple that is traditionally constructed as a full circle. Named a finalist in the iF DESIGN AWARD 2021, the innovative design of the Eleiko Öppen Collars removes barriers to make collar use accessible for everyone.
Traditional barbell collars can be complicated, heavy and hard to put on – an inconvenience many users may be tempted to skip. With the Eleiko Öppen Collars, lifters simply place each collar next to the weights and press the lever down to lock them into place, securing weights quickly with a single-handed operation.
“The ease of use is what really set the Öppen Collars apart. They are a clear departure from conventional weightlifting collars, both in terms of design and functionality. We carefully considered the entire training session from finding and storing collars to application and the lift itself to upgrade every aspect of the experience – furthering our position as a leading provider of innovative strength products,” says Erik Blomberg, CEO at Eleiko.
With smart features such as integrated magnets, single-handed lever operation and powerful clamping force, the Eleiko Öppen Collars are easy to both store and use. The magnets allow users to stick the collars on stands, racks and benches for easy accessibility, while the rubber components offer a secure grip and absorb shock when the barbell is dropped.
The lightweight aluminium casing, NBR rubber and internal components are fully recyclable. The Eleiko Öppen Collars have been thoroughly tested with drop tests and opening/closing lever tests. The collars are compatible with all Eleiko bars and plates, providing customers with a complete strength training solution that is ideal for home gyms, performance facilities and training centres alike.
