Old Course Hotel offers an idyllic romantic retreat for couples

West Sands Beach is only a five-minute stroll from the hotel, where guests can enjoy beautiful walks and explore Fife’s striking coastline, passing through historical and natural landscapes along the 81 mile-stretch of Coastal Path, from Forth Bridge all the way north to the Tay Bridge at the gateway to Dundee. The hotel is also a less than two hours’ drive from Scotland’s most famous national parks, including The Cairngorms and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, perfect for couples looking to experience the wilderness. Dine at new restaurant Swilcan Loft

Old Course Hotel offers six bars and restaurants, including Swilcan Loft which launched in Autumn 2021. Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and an outdoor terrace, Swilcan Loft offers uninterrupted views of the Old Course golf course, West Sands Beach and the iconic Hamilton Grand building, making it the perfect spot for an indulgent lunch or dinner. It is located on the fourth floor of the east end of the hotel, overlooking the 17th hole of the Old Course and one of golf’s most famous landmarks, the Swilcan Bridge – from which Swilcan Loft takes its name.

The 74-cover restaurant provides all-day dining coupled with locally sourced Scottish produce from the Old Course Hotel’s Executive Head Chef, Martin Hollis, who oversees all of the hotel’s restaurants, including the 3 AA Rosettes rated Road Hole Restaurant, as well as an extensive wine and cocktail list, such as the Islay Air – a warming cocktail for winter made with whisky, honey, fresh ginger and chocolate bitters.

Relax with a couples massage at Kohler Waters Spa

For those looking for a day of pure pampering and relaxation, award-winning Kohler Waters Spa is the ideal place to unwind featuring 13 treatment rooms, including two twin rooms for couples’ massages. The ‘Just the Two of Us’ spa package offers a 50-minute custom massage with hot stones, a two-course light lunch in the spa café with a glass of prosecco, access to the fitness centre and use of the Thermal Suite with a hydrotherapy pool, 20m lap pool, sauna, plunge pool and steam room, to leave guests feeling completely rejuvenated. Couples can also experience a range of water-based treatments using the healing benefits of natural mineral-rich water from therapeutic massages and facials to scrubs, and body wraps. The ‘Just the Two of Us’ spa day is available Sunday –Thursday, from 10 am-5 pm throughout February 2022.

For golf lovers, The Duke’s Course is a beautiful heathland course, which is just a 15-minute complimentary transfer from the hotel. Available to play all year round, it is an 18-hole course, set up as two loops of nine holes and five separate tee positions on each hole – which offers both flexibility in course length and appeals to golfers at all levels.

Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa is located next to St Andrews, which has excellent transport links and is only a 20-minute drive from Dundee airport, one hour drive from Edinburgh and one and a half hours from Glasgow. Leuchars train station is a short 10-minute journey and Leuchars airfield is also available for private jet arrivals.
