Parc le Breos Country House and Restaurant in The Gower, Wales

From the moment I arrived at Parc-Le-Breos, it was clear that this was no ordinary hotel; it felt like stepping into a warm and welcoming home. The hotel’s surroundings were idyllic, nestled in the countryside with picturesque gardens to explore. It was a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of life, and I found myself instantly recharging and relaxing in the peaceful ambience.

The guest house and restaurant are set on the grounds of a Norman deer park in the heart of the Gower Peninsula, only a 20-minute walk from Three Cliffs Bay. Three Cliffs Bay beach offers a particularly photogenic part of the Wales Coast Path and a great spot to stop for a picnic. With Pennard Pill stream running through the beach and panoramic views from the cliffs, it’s one of the most photographed areas in Gower.

In Parc-Le-Breos, we were greeted in the reception area by welcoming staff. We were kindly given a tour around the hotel by Nicci, who was so warm and friendly, making sure we knew exactly where everything was. You can expect to find pitch pine floors, crackling log fires and cosy sofas, which all add to the feeling of being in a homely environment.

The rooms were tastefully decorated, combining traditional country charm with modern comfort. The Deluxe Suite was such a beautiful room with so much space. The large suite has panoramic views over the gardens, luxury bathrooms, and a traditional roll-top bath. Each room has a flat-screen TV and WiFi internet access, as well as a hospitality tray for tea and coffee making, high-quality toiletries, sumptuous white linen and pocket-sprung mattresses as standard. The Deluxe Suite was a very special room and one that I will always remember staying in as it had such a luxurious feeling and amazing countryside views. It had everything you could need and more!

Once we settled into our room, we were served tea or coffee in the comfort of the period sitting room with a side of delicious Welsh cakes. This was a lovely way to get settled in as we could relax and stay warm by the cosy fireplace.

Parc-Le-Breos offered peaceful and picturesque surroundings which were a breath of fresh air. We enjoyed strolling through the gardens, admiring the countryside views, and relaxing in the cosy lounge by the fireplace. It felt like a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The staff who work at the hotel made our stay exceptional. They were always available to provide recommendations for exploring the area and always had smiles on their faces. It was clear that they take pride in what they do, and their passion for creating a memorable experience for guests shone through. They made us feel like valued guests in their home, always going the extra mile to ensure our stay was comfortable.

Dining

The dining experience was exceptional, with home-cooked meals that highlighted the best of local and seasonal ingredients. Sunday Dinner, in particular, was a highlight. The menu is a balance of modern twists on traditional classics as well as delights from their Kitchen Garden. You can tell the hotel takes great care to ensure they source the best fresh local produce wherever possible. The portion sizes were generous, and the flavours were reminiscent of a homemade meal. The traditional Yorkshire puddings and rich gravy were the perfect accompaniments to the main course. The restaurant had a cosy and inviting ambience, with rustic decor that enhanced the country’s charm. The Sunday roast atmosphere was lively, with families and friends gathering to savour this beloved British tradition.

This charming country retreat left a lasting impression with its delicious morning offerings. The menu featured a wide array of options, from classic English breakfasts with perfectly cooked eggs to fresh fruit or yoghurt. Their selection of pastries and homemade preserves was nothing short of mouthwatering. The breakfast room had an inviting feeling, with large windows offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It was a tranquil way to start the day.

The staff’s warm and welcoming demeanour made the breakfast experience even more enjoyable. Sophie in particular took pride in serving guests and whether it was a friendly chat or a special dietary request, the attentiveness was commendable. We departed with a strong desire to return to this countryside haven for another breakfast feast!

If you are looking for a large house to rent in Gower, Parc-Le-Breos lends itself  the perfect country retreat, offering privacy and space to enjoy your special occasion. Exclusive use of Parc-Le-Breos includes the entire house and grounds, 16 bedrooms, a deluxe wedding suite and the Quabs log cabin (2 bedrooms) overlooking the lily ponds. Exclusive use of the House is an amazing way of bringing your family and friends together to enjoy any type of celebration you care to imagine.

This family-run country house hotel exceeded our expectations and left us with a sense of nostalgia. We departed with a heavy heart, knowing we were leaving behind a truly special place.
