Pebble & Loop: Handcrafted Pearl Jewellery Inspired by the Aegean

With freshwater baroque pearls, glass beads inspired by the colours of the Aegean Sea and delicate macramé knotting techniques, independent jewellery brand Pebble & Loop creates beautiful pearl jewellery with a contemporary twist.

Designed and made by hand in their London studio, Pebble & Loop’s signature designs pay homage to founder Daphne McMahon’s childhood spent exploring the Greek islands. They feature bright tangerines, deep azure blues, soft corals and mint green glass beads, all set against freshwater baroque pearls, detailed macramé knotting techniques, 18ct gold vermeil elements, and finished with carefully considered clasps—to be worn and enjoyed every day.

The Inspiration

The inspiration behind each necklace, bracelet, anklet, glasses chain and pair of earrings comes from Daphne’s visits to her mother’s home country and the summers spent snorkelling in the turquoise waters and collecting shells and pebbles from beaches in the Aegean and Ionian Islands.

Each piece celebrates the enchanting colours of the ocean and the natural beauty of the pearl in an easy-to-wear way, whether on exotic shores or with jeans and a shirt here in the UK.

Every Pebble & Loop design is unique with a sustainable focus—from the raw materials used to create these individual pieces, to the plastic-free, recyclable and reusable packaging. To eliminate material waste, Pebble & Loop has also launched a ‘Waste To Wearable’ collection featuring perfectly ‘imperfect’ pearls, repurposed glass beads and semi-precious stones. The collection encourages customers to choose a colour palette, with a one-of-a-kind piece curated especially for them. All gifts are lovingly packaged in a reusable linen pouch, made by UK-based fellow female creatives.

Since launching in 2020, Pebble & Loop have been selected to be stocked in prestigious boutique hotels worldwide including Auberge Resorts and Four Seasons, on the global marketplace Wolf & Badger, as well as on sustainable platform Stories Behind Things. They have been featured by The Times, The Telegraph and Glamour.

Coco Anklet

The Coco is Pebble & Loop’s bestselling range, featuring classic monochrome baroque pearl bracelets with gold-plated Miyuki beads and the British brand’s signature handmade macramé clasp. The anklet is the newest addition to the Coco collection and was created with blissful beach walks in mind.

“The Coco is our bestselling collection—and my personal favourite—as the monochrome goes with any outfit. It can be dressed up or down,” Pebble & Loop’s founder, Daphne, explains. “The anklet was an addition that I felt was a must, as I usually wear a lot of white and neutrals on holiday and loved the idea of pearls around my ankles while wearing white sandals walking in the sand.”

Neoni Glasses Chain

The Neoni glasses chain, which easily slides onto all sun or eyeglasses models, features delicate freshwater baroque and rice pearls, quartz, cut crystal and glass beads in deep orange and shades of ocean blues—the colours of a majestic sunset over the sea. As founder Daphne explains, the inspiration for the glasses chain design came from wanting to create chic, statement pieces that anyone can wear.

“The Neoni glasses chain is a celebration of bold colours and wanting to incorporate larger statement pearls and quartz pieces. I loved the idea of it taking over an outfit, or wearing coral swimwear with this glasses chain and nothing else! It allows for a fun and bolder take on a practical and functional product. The way I have played with different shapes, sizes and weights of materials is specifically designed so that when the glasses are worn, the weight of the chain falls correctly and creates a lovely loop below the jawline.”
