Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, the pawfect staycation for you and your pooch

The Sheraton Grand Hotel in London’s Park Lane exudes glamour and sophistication, reminiscent of the 1920’s with its Art Deco style. The hotel is situated opposite Green Park, the perfect spot in which to walk your four legged canine friends, who are extremely welcome, not to mention spoilt, at this chic and classy hotel.

We were invited with our fur ball, Hero, a very well behaved and rather gorgeous Cockapoo to enjoy an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast in one of the beautifully designed suites. We checked in and were shown to our suite on the 6th floor and how incredibly thoughtful, Hero was treated to a bag full of treats, his own soft toy, food bowls and huge soft fluffy bed, not that he used it, he slept with us on our huge comfy bed! Our suite was just perfect,  with a view over Green Park and The London Eye in the distance, the use of space was thoughtful and it included a small sofa, a desk, free WiFi, a tea and coffee tray, mini bar and of course a large marble bathroom, we were extremely comfortable.

We felt quite envious of those clients enjoying a sumptuous traditional cream tea in the Palm Court, with its stunning stained glass ceiling, marble floor and original bar,  but you can’t really indulge in cream tea and dinner, so we chose dinner in the bar area of Smith & Whistle. This bar serves delicious cocktails and craft beers, as well as ‘dogstails”. Hero had a blast, there were other well behaved pooches in there as well, all lapping up the attention of the bar staff and the specially created ‘dogstails’. There was a choice of three ‘dogstails’ – Poochie Colada, Hound’s Hops and Posh Pooch, presented in their very own bowl.

The menu was simple but perfect, we began with fresh tomatoes on Bruscheta, followed by a spicy pizza and chicken Milanese, and finishing with some sorbet. We enjoyed every minute and ended the evening with a walk in Green Park to walk off our dinner and allow for doggy wees and poos. We then retired to our suite, slipped into our fluffy white towelling owns and watched some TV before enjoying a great nights sleep in probably the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for quite some time. The hotel is quiet and secure, with efficient and speedy room service if needed.

The following morning my husband got up early feeling well rested and spent an hour in the hi-tech gym, Hero and I met him for breakfast which was delicious, the coffee superb. After breakfast we took a stroll around Green Park and within five minutes we were in front of Buckingham Palace, just in time to see The Changing of the Guards, such pageantry. The hotel is close to an array of designer boutiques, theatres, bars, cafés and restaurants, there’s plenty to do and see and when you’re feeling completely exhausted, what better place to recover than back in your suite at The Sheraton Grand London Park Lane.
