SushiSamba – A unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine
Unrivalled Views from Europe’s Highest Outdoor Terrace
SushiSamba in the Heron Tower, located on the 38th and 39th floors at 110 Bishopsgate, features the highest outdoor dining terraces in Europe, with stunning 360-degree city views. The ascent to the restaurant via panoramic glass lifts—from inside the building to the outside—is an experience in itself: smooth and speedy, we reached the main dining room in seconds.
The floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the London skyline, combined with magical ceiling lights hanging at varying lengths through bamboo, create a stunningly romantic and intimate atmosphere—a truly memorable space for a special occasion.
Glamorous Design and Ambiance
The famous orange tree sculpture on the west terrace enhances the indoor-outdoor feel while serving as a beautiful piece of artwork. The entire restaurant exudes glamour and sophistication, from the striking shiny black-and-white flooring and honey-coloured banquettes and dining chairs to subtle hanging greenery softening the décor.
We were welcomed warmly and seated at a stylish table with views of the London night vista. We perused the menu over cocktails, taking advice from the attentive staff who happily explained cooking techniques and flavours.
Exceptional Fusion Dishes
Starters
Our favourite to start ‘Japanese style’ is ceviche, so we chose tuna and salmon. We were also encouraged to try the wagyu gyoza and shrimp tempura. The presentation and flavours were divine—fresh and light, the perfect beginning to our SushiSamba experience.
Main Plates
Next, we shared blackened cod with sweetcorn and polenta, plus the tiger maki (crabmeat, tiger prawn tempura, wasabi mayo, beetroot yoghurt, eel sauce—a first for me). Surprisingly moreish, I could have eaten this twice over! We also enjoyed salmon and tuna hand rolls.
Decadent Desserts
We didn’t think we had room for dessert, but after a short break, we savoured the chocolate banana cake and soft Japanese rice cake filled with ice cream, served with warm white chocolate sauce. Oh my—the perfect finale.
A Perfect Luxury Dining Experience
Our entire evening was exceptional, from the lift and welcome to the cocktails, service, and cuisine—a first-class, 100% perfect experience. Dining on a busy Saturday night amid a packed house of happy diners, the buzzy ambience was alive with love and laughter. We felt privileged to be invited and recommend booking to avoid disappointment.
SushiSamba hosts a calendar of exciting events—check them out here. We loved the creative fusion of Peruvian, Japanese, and Brazilian cuisine and will return, perhaps for the new Gunpowder Brunch.
