Guests are mere feet from wildlife, such as waterbuck grazing by the fence. During our stay, we awoke to impala, zebra, ostrich, wildebeest, and elephants roaming freely. Gourmet Dining in an Idyllic Setting

Gourmet cuisine is served in an impressive restaurant at the lodge’s heart, immersing diners in the reserve’s ecosystem. Our first night featured a mouth-watering three-course meal: butternut soup with fresh bread for starters, tender impala, lamb, or fish with garden vegetables for mains, and chocolate peppermint tart to finish. The chef masterfully infuses decadence and flavours that leave you craving more.

Unforgettable Safari Game Drives

The highlight was the safari game drive. At dawn, we encountered impala, African wild dogs, kudu, springbok, zebra, ostrich, wildebeest, warthogs, Egyptian geese, helmeted guineafowl, waterbuck, elephants, and two lions. We paused for tea and coffee before breakfast. The afternoon brought suspense as our guide tracked paw prints, culminating in two leopards lounging against a spectacular sunset. Night drives revealed nocturnal creatures, including an owl.

Returning for dinner, we dined like royalty fireside at the Boma Lounge—a traditional African king’s feast. The 5-star menu offered meats, vegetables, pap, and desserts like cheesecake or malva pudding with custard. Tau Game Lodge features two pools, including a private infinity pool where we cooled off amid animal calls and birdsong. A truly incredible escape.
