The Landmark London, simply the most luxurious hotel

The Landmark London is an exquisite example of complete and utter sophisticated perfection. Starting with the grand entrance into an impressive reception area with sumptuous and aromatic floral displays and attentive staff. We enjoyed just one night here, but it was enough to satisfy the longing for some peace and serenity, even in the heart of London.

It is ideally situated opposite Marylebone train station with a proximity to many restaurants, shops, theatres and tourist hotspots, and to return here following an exhausting day out is a huge treat and if you love an afternoon tea, as I do, The Landmark London is definitely worth booking, it’s a truly elegant affair in the Winter Garden restaurant and there’s a pianist to add to the genteel ambience.

We had had an exhausting day of business,  travelling around town from one meeting to the next, by taxi, but the traffic was heavy and making apppointments on time stressful, but as we returned to The Landmark London at around 5 pm we could feel the stress leave our shoulders. We checked-in and went to our 5 th floor suite, it was huge, chic and thoughtfully designed, with everything you could need. I just flopped onto the fabulously comfy bed, it took all my willpower to shower change and get ready for dinner, it would have been so easy to kick off the shoes, turn on the TV and chillout in the stunning suite, but we were quite hungry and dinner was calling.

Dinner was in the Winter Garden restaurant, a stunning oasis of calm where the decor included huge Mediterranean-style planters and full sized palms, white table linen, crystal glasses, silver cutlery and soft lighting all ensuring a romantic and extremely chic dining expereince, before you’ve even looked at the menu, all this set beneath the stunning soaring eight-storey glass roof atrium.

We decided to have a glass of house champagne while we checked out the menu. We chose from the à la carte menu, the modern European  choices made it difficult to choose, but we did, and we did decide to choose different from each other. We had the Cornish white crab with pickled cucumber, apple, garnished with fresh herbs, and the home smoked Gressingham duck breast served with apple and celeriac remoulade, pickled walnuts and a delicious blackberry sauce, they did not disappoint the crab and duck were both absolutely perfect.

After a little digestive break for our main course we chose pan roasted wild Sea bass presented with cauliflower, red chicory, runner beans and a rich red wine sauce, also we had roasted rack of Cumbrian lamb served as a Shepherds pie. The main courses were presented beautifully, the fish fresh and soft and the lamb flavoursome, we also had a side of steamed broccoli.

To complete our gastronimic expereince we just about managed to squeeze in dessert, a white chocolate cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding, an absolutely perfect end to a simply divine dining experience.

We went to bed feeling very happy with this fabulous treat, it was a feast fit for a King, and the service was impeccable.

Our evening was superb, and we both slept like babies, the hotel is so quiet and restful. We woke the next morning refreshed, so we went to the gym for a pre breakfast workout. The gym is full of hi-tec equipment, and if we had had time we’d have gone in the spa and health club and used the stunning indoor pool and steam room, but sadly we ran out of time.

We did however indulge in a delicious breakfast in the Winter Garden restaurant, where we enjoyed a a lovely selection of fresh fruits and yoghurts and a basket of fresh Danish pastries, all washed down with a latte and some orange juice.

We were now nicely set up for the day and ready to embark on some Christmas shopping.

The Landmark London is simply one of the most luxurious hotel in London we’ve had the good fortune to visit and we highly recommend a stay next time you’re in town.
