Our stay at Villa Maravigghia in Sicily began with a genuine wow moment. The spectacular sea views are simply breathtaking, stretching across the azure blue Mediterranean and providing a stunning backdrop for the entire property. Whether watching the sunrise with a coffee in hand or enjoying the sunset with a glass of our new favourite tipple, a long cool Aperol Spritz, the scenery is unforgettable and one of the villa’s standout features.

The villa itself is beautifully designed, combining contemporary style with comfort and practicality. The interiors are bright, spacious, and thoughtfully furnished, creating a relaxing atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. The newest addition to the villa is a swimming pool, which is a huge plus. Everything feels fresh, modern, and elegant without ever being over the top. It’s the sort of place where you can happily spend a day doing absolutely nothing except enjoying the surroundings.

The kitchen is fully equipped to enable you to dine ‘at home’, and there is a great supermarket just a couple of miles away. We bought our breakfast bits there, fresh croissants, fruit and yoghurt, and mainly ate out in one of the nearby towns.

To make the most of your stay, we highly recommend hiring a car. The villa’s location makes it an ideal base for exploring the local area, and with quiet roads, getting around is both easy and enjoyable.

One of the biggest highlights of Villa Maravigghia is its location. Sicily is packed with incredible places to explore, and the villa is perfectly positioned for discovering some of the island’s most beautiful and historic towns. We spent wonderful days wandering through the charming streets of Syracuse and Noto, admiring the stunning architecture and typical bustling Sicilian atmosphere. While Taormina completely stole our hearts with its spectacular views, ancient history and picture-perfect ancient streets. These towns are brimming with fabulous bars and restaurants, boutiques and art galleries, so hold on to your purse strings, you will surely find amazing gifts and traditional artefacts.

For those who enjoy a little retail therapy, there’s also a designer village outlet just an hour and a half drive away. It was the perfect excuse for a leisurely shopping trip between sightseeing adventures and lazy afternoons by the villa.

We also have to give special thanks to Wish Sicily, who handled our booking. From start to finish, the team was friendly, professional and incredibly helpful. Everything was arranged smoothly, and communication was excellent. It’s always reassuring to know you’re in good hands when booking a holiday, and Wish Sicily certainly delivered.
